Marta Martins, Ph.D.
Principal Investigator (P.I.)
Marta Martins is an integrated researcher at CIS-Iscte and Invited Assistant Professor at Iscte-IUL, leading interdisciplinary research on the neurobiology of reading and the use of music and sound to improve learning and behavior. Her work bridges neuroscience, education, and health, supported by diverse competitive grants as PI.

Joana Gouveia
Research Fellow
Joana Gouveia holds a degree in Psychology from the University of Porto and has experience in literacy, neuropsychology, and psychological assessment. Multifaceted and creative, she combines psychoeducational training, including a CCP certification, with diverse practical experience ranging from event planning to hands-on manual work. These varied experiences shape a grounded, adaptable, and human-centered approach.

Manuela Moura
Ph.D. Student
Manuela Moura is a clinical psychologist with recognized specializations in Clinical and Health Psychology, Psychotherapy, and Sexology. Her work focuses on human sexuality, sexual health, and LGBTQIA+ populations, with particular emphasis on voice experience in transgender women, the focus of her PhD research.

Lara Cunha
Undergraduate Research Assistant
Lara Cunha is a sixth-year medical student at the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, University of Porto, ICBAS-UP. She joined B.Sound Lab in 2023, and her main research interests focus on the study of musicality in children.

Ivo Fernandes
Ph.D. Student
Ivo Moreira Fernandes is a Medical Sciences PhD student at ICBAS, University of Porto, and an Emergency Medicine resident at ULS Matosinhos. His research focuses on the acoustic basis of voice gender perception and modification training.

Suze Gomes
Undergraduate Research Assistant
Suze Gomes is a second-year undergraduate student in Psychology at ISCTE–University Institute of Lisbon. Her current research focuses on children's musicality, and her main research interests lie in the fields of neuropsychology and cognitive psychology.

Regina Abreu
Research Fellow
Regina graduated in Psychology at University of Porto and collaborated on studies in the field of cognition and language using behavioral and EEG methods. She is currently a research fellow on the project "Evaluating musical rhythm predisposition and training in shaping children's reading and writing skills."
